Im Jahr 1974 veränderte Phaedra die Landschaft der elektronischen Musik grundlegend. Was als experimentelle Session in Richard Bransons Manor Studios in Oxfordshire begann, wurde zu einem seismischen Ereignis der modernen Klangkunst. Durch den erstmaligen Einsatz des Moog-Sequenzers schufen Tangerine Dream – damals bestehend aus Edgar Froese, Christopher Franke und Peter Baumann – mit Phaedra ein Album, das vor Innovation, Geheimnis und Entdeckergeist nur so strahlte.
Ein halbes Jahrhundert später kehrte Tangerine Dream in das Londoner Barbican zurück, um dieses bahnbrechende Werk zu ehren – neu interpretiert für eine neue Ära. 50 Years Of Phaedra: At The Barbican fängt diese außergewöhnliche Live-Performance ein, bei der die aktuelle Besetzung – Thorsten Quaeschning, Hoshiko Yamane und Paul Frick – den Geist von Phaedra mit genau den Werkzeugen neu belebt, die Froese und seine Mitstreiter einst selbst mitentwickelt hatten.

Magma existierte in zwei Phasen: Die erste Phase begann im Sommer 1969, debütierte 1970 mit einer LP und dauerte bis 1983. Kobaia wurde im Frühjahr 1970 veröffentlicht, 1001 Centigrades im April 1971. „Kobaia” ist das Debütalbum und ein Doppelalbum.
