Dissolution ist das mit Spannung erwartete Nachfolgealbum des im Jahr 2016 veröffentlichten Werkes Your Wilderness von The Pineapple Thief. War auf dem Vorgängeralbum Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree, King Crimson ) noch als Gastmusiker mit von der Partie, ist er nun festes Mitglied der Band. Das neue Material bestätigt dass The Pineapple Thief die Absicht haben, sich künstlerisch in neue Sphären zu begeben und zeigen dies musikalisch-technisch sowie im Songwriting. Man findet Querverweise zu Pink Floyd, David Bowie oder Blur. Dissolution ist ein Konzeptalbum und erzählt von den oft düsteren Folgen des Lebens in einer Gesellschaft in der alle Probleme auf offener Bühne ausgetragen werden müssen. David Tom (Gitarre, David Bowie) steuerte sein Können bei dem Song White Mist bei. Die CD-Version kommt im Sleevepack mit 24-seitigem Booklet.// TPT’s highly anticipated 2018 studio release Dissolution - the second to feature Gavin Harrison - sees the band elevate itself to new heights, showcasing developing songwriting and technical capabilities. The album concept tells of the dark consequences of living in a society in which everything is played out on a public stage (a theme paralleled in the cover art, which was created by ‘glitching‘ the original photographs). Songwriter Bruce Soord explains, "In a time when we are supposed to be bound closer together than ever, I have never felt so apart from the world. We are living through a revolution and right now I am not sure it’s a good one. Lyrically this is the most vivid I have been." The band recorded Dissolution across the UK, sharing ideas via instant messaging. The mixing was handled by Soord and Harrison, and mastering was done by the band‘s keyboardist Steve Kitch.
