Die schwedische Progressive-Rock-Band Jonas Lindberg & The Other Side kündigt die Veröffentlichung ihres lang erwarteten neuen Studioalbums „Time Frames“ an.

„Time Frames“ erscheint fast vier Jahre nach dem von Kritikern hochgelobten Album „Miles From Nowhere“, das viel Lob erhielt und bei den Prog Report Awards 2022 zum Durchbruch des Jahres gekürt wurde.

Jonas Lindberg sagt über die lange Wartezeit, die sich auch im Albumtitel widerspiegelt: „Time Frames bezieht sich darauf, dass das Album unter vielen kleinen Deadlines entstanden ist. So wurden beispielsweise die Gitarren innerhalb dieses Zeitraums aufgenommen und die Abmischungen mussten innerhalb dieses Zeitraums fertiggestellt werden. Das letzte Album entstand während der Pandemie, als wir alle viel Zeit hatten, dieses Mal musste es neben all den anderen Dingen erledigt werden“, sagt Jonas Lindberg.

Auf dem Album spielt Lindberg wieder viele Instrumente und singt viele Parts selbst, aber es gibt auch wichtige Beiträge von den wieder dabei seienden Mitgliedern Jonas Sundqvist (Gesang), Jenny Storm (Gesang), Calle Stålenbring (Gitarren), Nicklas Thelin (Gitarren), Jonathan Lundberg (Schlagzeug), Maria Olsson (Percussion) und Joel Lindberg (Gitarren).

„Bei diesem Album habe ich mich schon zu Beginn der Sessions dazu entschlossen, die meisten Instrumente auf den Backing Tracks selbst zu spielen. Die Idee dahinter war: Was ich spielen kann, spiele ich auch. Aber ich habe vieles, von dem ich wusste, dass die anderen es viel besser können als ich, ihnen überlassen (haha)“, kommentiert Lindberg. „Das ist das Schöne daran, wenn andere Leute an der Musik mitwirken: Es klingt einfach besser und lebendiger. Sie kommen auf Ideen, auf die ich nie gekommen wäre!“

Das neue Album taucht kopfüber in den unverkennbaren „Other Side“-Sound ein. Das Mini-Epos „End Of The Road“ ebnet den Weg für sechs weitere Tracks, die zusammen eine ziemlich progressive Reise ergeben.
„Seit dem letzten Album bin ich zum ersten Mal Vater geworden. Ein Großteil der Inspiration für dieses Album stammt daher“, sagt Lindberg.

Swedish progressive rock-outfit Jonas Lindberg &The Other Side announce the upcoming release of their long awaited new studio album Time Frames.

Time Frames is due to come out almost four years after the critically acclaimed Miles From Nowhere, which garnered widespread praise and was the pick for Breakthrough of the Year at the 2022 Prog Report Awards.

Jonas Lindberg has this to say about the long(ish) wait – circumstances regarding which are reflected in the album title: ”Time Frames is referring to the album being made through lots of mini deadlines. Sort of like, the guitars were recorded during this time frame and the mixes had to be finished within that time frame. The last album was made during the pandemic when we all had a lot of time on our hands, this time around it had to be done while juggling all these other things too”, says Jonas Lindberg.
The record sees Lindberg once again handling many of the instruments and vocals himself, albeit with notable contributions from returning members Jonas Sundqvist (vocals), Jenny Storm (vocals), Calle Stålenbring (guitars), Nicklas Thelin (guitars), Jonathan Lundberg (drums), Maria Olsson (percussion) and Joel Lindberg (guitars).
”On this one I decided from the beginning of the sessions to play most of the instruments on the backing tracks myself. The idea was: If I can play it, I will play it. But I left a lot of stuff that I knew the others would do a lot better than me and gave it to them (haha)”, Lindberg comments. ”That‘s the beauty of having other people involved in the music, it just sounds better and more alive. They come up with stuff that I would never have thought of!”

The new album dives head-first into that unmistakable ”Other Side”-sound. Mini-epic ”End Of The Road”paves the way for six other tracks which together makes for quite the progressive voyage.
”Since the last album I‘ve become a father for the first time. A lot of the inspiration for this album is drawn from that”, says Lindberg.
